Blood Donation
A blood donation
is when a healthy person voluntarily has blood drawn. It may be further used to
save many lives through transfusions.
Most blood donors are unpaid volunteers who give blood for a community supply as
an act of charity. Donors are evaluated
for the potentiality of donation. The
Evaluation includes screening for diseases that can be transmitted by a blood transfusion.
The amount of blood drawn and the methods vary but a typical donation is 500 milliliters
of whole blood.
There are different kinds of donations like direct donations where a donor donates
blood for transfusion to a specific individual, indirect donations where a donor
donates blood for transfusion to an unknown recipient and donations where a donor
uses the blood transfused back to the donate at a later date.

in nature and the information is not complete. Specially trained technical staffs
are available at each blood collection center and any further health queries can
be answered.
